Virity Bennett was in cryo sleep aboard a spaceship on route to a new planet, scheduled to awaken before anyone else. As Pathfinder, her responsibility was to prepare for the mission, ensuring the spaceship was on course and safe for continued travel. To her horror, she woke up early to a chilling scene: everyone on her floor was dead, the lights dim except for the emergency ones and signs of an invasion were evident. After exploring other levels, she found that all aboard were deceased, except for two individuals—a man and a woman untouched in the spaceship's jail sector. To her astonishment, one of them was Pathfinder 1511. She awakens him, desperate to understand why a respected Pathfinder was confined and detained on her spaceship.

To her shock, she awoke prematurely to find the spaceship empty, with only two survivors: a man and a woman in the jail sector. To astonishment, one of them was Pathfinder 1511. Before uncovering why he was on her ship, she woke him up and they escaped in a pod the planet below, where Virity managed to reach a transport ship to take Pathfinder 1511 to a nearby outpost. Realizing she also needed to save the woman, she persuaded the captain of the transport ship to return her to space. After she was dropped off, Virity woke up the woman from cryo sleep. The moment their eyes met, the woman gazing up at Virity knew she would become her Sparkmate.
